Been through this with momma in assisted living. You have to call the professionals. Bed bug experts and do all of the cleaning they say to do. The only way we got rid of them. Good luck.
Morena, I am going to get blasted and belittled again for telling you this but, I couldn't care less because it works, as Barbbrooklyn will attest to if she responds.
Get food grade diatomaceous earth, you can order it online or get if from a health food store. I would start with 20 pounds.
I use a shaker bottle and a small sieve for application, you don't need but a dusting for this stuff to work.
1st, clean and vacuum really well then apply this to everything, especially the bare mattresses in the house and all around them, you can safely sleep with this under your sheets, bedbugs live in crevices and cracks but come out to feed, so you want a halo treatment, do all around a room at the baseboard, move in and do the same to all furniture, beds, hardwood doesn't matter, put DE around it, turn chairs upside down and powder the bottom sides, then you leave it. This is the key to this working, it must be left down to be effective. Depending on the infestation, you may have to use this for a month.
It is vital that you wash everything washable as hot as possible and dry as hot as possible, then put that away in treated areas. It's a time consuming process but effective as any exterminator and a fraction of the cost.
It looks frightful and it must be replaced if it gets wet, water stops the effectiveness of DE.

PS this is a great, safe way to deal with many bugs and during the great migration that happens during season changes, I keep it on the exterior of all my doors thresholds, stops little creeps from moving in to the air conditioning.
PSS an exterminator will give them the same advice, clean everything because they only spray toxic chemicals, they don't clean the house or wash the laundry, that is up to the customer.
What an interesting solution! Apparently it takes 2-4 weeks to completely kill them because you have to wait for unhatched eggs to mature so the 2nd gen can also die. Thanks for posting!
